Level 2 Award in First Aid for Youth Mental Health (1 Day Qualification)
The Level 2 Award in First Aid for Youth Mental Health is suitable for anyone who actively supports or connects with children. This includes parents, carers, teachers, youth group leaders, and young adults.
This qualification focuses on the mental health of children and young people. Learners gain the knowledge and skills to identify potential mental health conditions, start supportive conversations, and guide children towards professional help. The course covers key areas such as depression, self-harm, eating disorders, and bullying.
Course Duration
The course involves a minimum of 6 hours of classroom contact, which can be delivered over a maximum of 3 weeks. Each session must last at least 2 hours, providing flexibility for learners and organisations.

Assessment
Learners complete both a written assessment paper and a practical demonstration of the first aid action plan for mental health. Both components must be successfully passed to achieve the qualification.
Certification
Upon successful assessment, learners receive a Level 2 Award in First Aid for Youth Mental Health. The qualification is valid for three years. To maintain certification, learners must complete the full course again after three years.
Progression
After completing this course, learners can progress to the Level 3 Supervisors in First Aid for Mental Health, a two-day course.
